The university is over. Build what replaces it, in your city.

AI is wiping out knowledge jobs and gutting the value of most degrees. FrontierU is the institution being built for the young people preparing for what comes next: students who refuse to waste a decade on a credential, and founders already shipping real companies.

We’re recruiting operating partners to house them, three continents at a time. This page is a briefing for prospective partners ready to run a FrontierU campus in their city under our brand.

The problem

The university system is failing.

AI is making degrees redundant. Recent graduates face record unemployment, and the most ambitious young founders are skipping the credential entirely, leaving university enrollment in structural decline.

Tuition is exorbitant. Students carry life-defining debt for credentials of declining value, and would-be founders pay the same sticker price for years they could have spent shipping.

Bureaucratic bloat and rigidity waste students’ time and money, and pull serious early founders into coursework instead of companies.

The sheepskin effect rewards persistence, not learning. Employers and investors increasingly notice; the credential stops carrying signal long before it stops carrying cost.

Talented young people from poor backgrounds are systematically excluded from the elite credentials and from the founder networks that follow them.

Ideological bias in research and teaching has eroded trust, especially at elite institutions, the same ones training tomorrow’s hiring managers and venture capital partners.

The solution

Four pillars. One membership.

The product members pay for, in four pillars. Operating partners run the second — global campuses — and inherit the demand the other three drive: the platform that bundles the AI mentor, a tailor-made curriculum built by Socrates, and accredited-degree partnerships at a fraction of tuition; the total freedom over how members spend their time; and the direct support for the careers and companies they’re building.

Online platform.

The social network for elite young talent: students and founders alike. Bundles Socrates, our personal AI mentor and tutor, who builds each member a tailor-made curriculum for their trajectory. Members can study independently on the platform, or take accredited courses in parallel at any of thousands of partner universities, saving thousands per year on traditional tuition.

Global campuses.

Real-world communities on three continents, run by operating partners. One membership covers them all. Members are free to move between Próspera, Paris, and San Francisco whenever they want, and pop up wherever their work takes them next.

Complete freedom over time.

No mandatory courses, no semester schedule, no four-year lock-in. Members invest their time however they choose — studying, building, shipping, hiring, raising — and pay monthly for the flexibility to change their mind.

Careers & entrepreneurship.

Direct support for the work that pays off: job matching against members’ verified skills, hands-on help during their fundraising and hiring, and warm introductions to the founders and investors most likely to back the ventures they’re shipping.

Vision & mission

Affordable, flexible, and built so young talent stops wasting time.

Vision

An alternative to the nonprofit university.

Higher education is locked inside slow, expensive nonprofit institutions. FrontierU is the for-profit alternative: cheaper to join, faster to leave, and structured around the real careers and ventures young students and founders are building today, not the credentials they were sold a decade ago.

Mission

Stop the time-waste.

The most ambitious 18-to-25-year-olds, students and founders alike, lose years to coursework that no longer maps to the work that matters. FrontierU exists to give them their time back: an affordable membership, a flexible program, and — hosted by operating partners — a community that compounds their output instead of slowing it down. Operators are the ones who make the mission show up in a building.

Why now

Universities can’t pivot. We can.

The window is open. Trust is collapsing, the labor market is re-pricing skills weekly, and incumbents are slow.

AI eats knowledge work.

Knowledge jobs are disappearing faster than universities can adapt their curricula.

Graduates can’t find work.

Recent graduates face record unemployment. Panic is growing among students and parents.

Domain × AI is the new premium.

Domain experts who have mastered AI are becoming the most sought-after talent in the labor market.

Trust in elites has collapsed.

Young talent is actively looking for alternatives to the legacy university brand.

Selective admissions

We select for what drives success.

FrontierU is selective because the network is the product and because a FrontierU membership must be a valuable signal. We admit roughly the top 2% of applicants, students and founders alike. A tested IQ of 120 is a hard floor: applicants below it are not admitted, and the chance of admission rises with the score above it. On top of that, proof of agency — evidence the applicant takes initiative, learns independently, and has real ambition — has to back it up, plus obsession with a technology, business idea, or field of study (passion isn’t enough), and willingness to sacrifice what the work demands (comfort, income, social life, the safe path).

  1. 01

    Cognitive ability

Our admissions test is rigorous and timed. The hard floor is a tested IQ of 120: roughly the top 10% of the general population. Applicants who score below the floor are not admitted; above it, the chance of admission rises with the score. Smart-but-untested applicants can sit the test as part of the application.

  2. 02

    Proof of agency

Evidence the applicant is a go-getter: takes initiative, learns independently, has real ambition. What they've built, published, designed, coded, written, run, organized, shipped. We don't look for impressive, we need real. Founders submit the company; students submit the portfolio.

  3. 03

    Obsession

Passion isn't enough. Excellence requires obsession. A technology, business idea, problem, interest, or field of study that pulls the applicant toward it whether anyone is watching or not. We look for proof one of those lives in their life, and that they've been compounding on it for months or years.

  4. 04

    Prioritization

Real ambition costs something real. We look for proof the applicant will trade comfort, income, social life, and the safe path when the work demands it, and that they're clear-eyed about why. People who want the upside without the trade-offs don't make it past this filter.

  5. 05

    Taste

What applicants read, watch, and recommend tells us how they think. Three favorite works each, with the reasons why.

  6. 06

    A point of view

A unique idea or a hot take, in the applicant's own words. We'd rather see a sharp opinion than a polished essay.

  7. 07

    Trajectory

Where the applicant is going, and why. We pick for direction; speed becomes a shared problem once they're in.

Who we don’t admit
  • People hoping to coast.
  • People looking for a credential.
  • People building careers around their identity instead of their work.
Why it matters for partners

Operators inherit the best talent from a wider funnel than any single elite university can reach: high IQ, high agency, real obsession, proven willingness to sacrifice, regardless of their background or how they invest their time.

Community & campuses

Online studies. Real-world community.

Members — students and founders alike — study online and live in person, moving between Próspera, Paris, and San Francisco, with pop-up communities filling the spaces in between. The daily texture inside your walls is run by the members themselves through clubs, societies, brotherhoods, and sisterhoods.

One brand, three campuses

Members move freely between Próspera, Paris, and San Francisco. Each campus is operated by a local partner under the same FrontierU brand and admissions standards.

Pop-ups around the world

3-month pop-up communities for members who’d rather move than settle, crossing every continent. Partner-led pop-ups extend the brand beyond the permanent campuses.

Operating partners

You run the campus. We run the brand.

Operators own the in-person experience in their city; FrontierU owns the platform, brand, admissions, and the global member network that fills the door.

Real estate & space.

Lease and fit out the campus building: co-working, creative space, common areas, event venue. You bring the property; the brand and the playbook plug in around it.

Local team.

Hire and manage on-the-ground staff: campus manager, community lead, events producer, hospitality. We provide the playbook and the hiring rubric, and will look for someone suitable if you need us to.

Programming & events.

Run the weekly cadence: salons, talks, dinners, sports, demo nights, weekend trips. The social fabric is yours to operate inside our standards.

Local partnerships.

We’ll source accommodation providers, gyms, accelerators, employers, and city officials. Stitch FrontierU into your city’s existing builder ecosystem.

The franchise model

A franchise built for an institution.

A franchise model designed for an institution. Operators don’t chase membership revenue or run marketing in their community. FrontierU handles the global recruiting and pays you a fixed monthly fee for every active member based in your community.

Per-member monthly fee: a fixed amount per active member, paid by FrontierU. Predictable income that scales with the cohort, not with churn-prone event revenue.

Bring-in bonus: for every member you personally route into the network, you earn an additional fee on top of the recurring per-member rate. Local introductions still get rewarded; you’re just never required to make them.

Territory rights: exclusive operating rights for your community, with first refusal on adjacent cities as you scale.

Launch package: at signing you receive the brand, the platform, the playbook, and a starting member cohort routed from our existing waitlist.

Brand standards: a FrontierU campus reads the same in Paris as it does in Próspera.

How we divide the work

Two specializations. One institution.

FrontierU concentrates on what compounds globally: brand, technology, talent. Operating partners concentrate on what compounds locally: space, people, hospitality. Neither side works alone. The table below is the contract between us.

Why partner with FrontierU

Inherit demand, software, and standards from day one.

The hardest parts of starting an institution from scratch (brand, software, member trust, admissions standards) are already done. Operators focus on the part that’s actually local.

Demand

Pre-built waitlist.

FrontierU markets at the category level. Members apply to the brand and we route admitted members to your campus. You don’t build demand from zero.

Software

No tech to build.

The platform, Socrates, the admissions system, the member directory, the recruitment tooling: all delivered. You operate, not engineer.

Trust

Quality from day one.

Members arrive pre-screened against a global admissions standard. Your campus opens with the caliber of community an Ivy spends decades curating.

Recurring revenue

Per-member monthly fee.

FrontierU pays you a fixed fee per active member based in your community, every month. Predictable income that scales with the cohort.

Network effects

Members move. The fee follows.

Members pay one global membership and travel freely between campuses. The per-member fee follows whichever community a member has activated in their login. So when a member switches their active community to yours, the recurring income switches with them.

Launch cohort

Open with members already in.

We route admitted members from our global waitlist into your campus from day one. You don’t run a marketing campaign before your first lease. The demand is already there.

Team

Lean team. Operator-led.

Founder & Director

Andries Kerpestein.

Economist. Author of The Proprietary State. Built the FrontierU vision out of direct experience with the failure modes of elite universities. Leads product, brand, and admissions.

Partners & planned hires

CTO, community.

Operating partners deliver the in-person campus experience globally. Hiring a CTO and a community builder.

Frequently asked questions

  • Ambitious young people — outliers, founders, future domain experts — who don't want a four-year degree from a traditional elite institution. We admit roughly the top 2% of applicants. A tested IQ of 120 is a hard floor, and the chance of admission rises from there with evidence of agency (real initiative, independent learning, real ambition), obsession with a technology, business idea, field of study or art form (passion isn't enough), and willingness to sacrifice what the work may demand (e.g. comfort, income, social life, the safe path).
