Academics

A Unique Learning Journey

Frontier University has a unique education model. Instead of being educated by us, you will receive your education from other sources. This gives you maximum flexibility. Our model allows you to study exactly what is relevant to you, at your own pace and in whatever way works best for you. The resources you can use to learn include, for example, online courses at third-party universities, books, lectures and research.

Before you enroll on a date of your choice, our academics will develop a unique curriculum for you based on your talents and ambitions. Once your curriculum is complete, we will find the right resources for you to study, after which you can enroll and start your learning journey. You will be able to change your curriculum at any time and to choose which academics to consult for this. You can take your assessments whenever you are ready.

Areas of Focus

Frontier University’s mission is to equip students with the expertise they need to have a significant, positive impact on the world.

Some fields of expertise have more potential for impact than others. We therefore primarily admit students seeking to specialize in fields listed here, as well as any of their intersections and relevant adjacent fields.
Potential for impact

Your chance of admission is higher if your ambitions and interests lie in or near any of these fields, or where they intersect, but we consider all applications. The single criterion that we apply to the fields you seek to specialize in is whether they have potential for impactful careers. While we will consider any field if an applicant can prove that it satisfies this criterion, this gives us the following areas of focus.

The Hard Sciences

Such as physics, mathematics, statistics, chemistry, materials science, biotechnology, biochemistry and biomedical sciences, neuroscience, life science, genomics, pharmacology, virology and immunology.

Computer science and engineering

Such as computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering (electrical, mechanical, chemical etc.), cybersecurity and data science.

Economics and institutions

Such as economics, political economy and government.

Entrepreneurship and finance

Such as business studies, finance, and accounting.

The Big Questions

Such as AI alignment, existential risks, future studies, progress studies and transhumanism.

Impact projects

Such as Web3, blockchain and cryptographic technologies, Urbit and related fields.

Examples of the types of student we look for

These are all examples of applicants whose goal is to achieve expertise where several of our areas of focus intersect. However, aspiring applicants must know that any field will be considered if they can prove its relevance to our mission.

An institutional innovator

An applicant who aspires to improve the institutions in his country. For this, he can benefit from specializing in institutional innovation, drawing from economics, government and political economy.

An aspiring researcher

An applicant who aspires to do cutting-edge research in longevity, for which she could benefit from education in statistics and artificial intelligence, biomedical science and biotechnology and lab research.

A Rocket Scientist

An applicant who aspires to become an engineer at the cutting edge of space technology. This applicant could benefit from studying in the fields of astronomy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and chemical engineering, artificial intelligence, statistics and computer science.

A serial entrepreneur

An applicant who has a history of entrepreneurship and wants to gain valuable skills to continue his entrepreneurial career. This applicant can benefit from an education in business studies, finance, accounting and management.

Academic Report and Degrees

As a Frontier student, you will receive an academic report.

Your academic report will detail your intelligence, knowledge and skills gained, any significant achievements and any references from academics you may work with or study under during your enrollment.

Your academic report will grow as you learn and make achievements at the university, and allows you to leave at any time with a valuable credential in hand.

As a Frontier student, you are expected to pursue a valuable academic report in the first place, which allows you to study exactly what is relevant to you. A valuable academic report results from acquiring valuable knowledge and skills, and making notable achievements, relevant to your interests and ambitions.

Besides the academic report, Frontier University will award you any degree accredited in the OECD countries that you would qualify for with the knowledge and skills you have passed sufficient assessments for. Alternatively, the university can award you an individualized degree in line with international accreditation standards, if your individual learning journey has been sufficient.

However, these degrees are not accredited and Frontier students are expected to focus on pursuing a valuable academic report. You should only pursue a degree if you happen to qualify for one as a result of your learning journey.

Entrepreneurship, research and other projects

You may want to undertake projects during your studies, such as entrepreneurial projects or research projects. For this, you will have access to support from the university.

Frontier can help your projects forward by giving you access to an extensive network of companies, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and domain experts.

You can also undertake your own research project. The university can then help you obtain funding.

Career Support

After ending your enrolment, you will have access to support from the university to find the right career for you. We have an extensive network of companies and institutions to which we can connect you.

Scholarships

We offer scholarships to exceptional students who otherwise cannot afford to study at Frontier. The size of this scholarship will depend on availability as well as the student’s needs and capacities. For more information, please contact scholarships@frontieru.org.
